Fotostudio Jan Bartelsman BV is best known for photography that centers on food, drink and the spice of life. Twenty years of technical expertise, artistic vision and experience allow us to excel in providing advertising and promotional materials to a varied international clientele. When photographing restaurant dishes, Jan Bartelsman is quick to know precisely what lighting techniques will show dishes to their best advantage, when to rearrange ingredients/products to give structure to a photographic composition, and when dishes don’t photograph optimally, when to digitally retouch the photos rather than having the dish prepared again. This makes the photo session a pleasurable experience for chefs and management personnel, who value our efficient use of time. When creating a photo-series, Fotostudio Jan Bartelsman strives to set a tone and feeling. Atmosphere and enjoyment are often the most important ingredients. When the assignment includes photographing a restaurant interior, Jan Bartelsman will often, after consulting the client, try to photograph design details, or the smiling faces of co-workers going about their various tasks. In the end, the photos must evoke the following response from the viewer: “That dish makes my mouth water, and I would like to go to that restaurant.”
